I was catching up on some YouTube videos a week or so ago and I was mindlessly watching KathleenLights' October Favorites video. She happened to mention a duo of brushes from L.A. Color that were fantastic. Well, that piece of information stuck in my brain and I had to go find them. I mean, $2 for some eye brushes?! Yes please!
I ran myself down to Family Dollar and grabbed the last two in stock (just in case they really were that great).
Here they are in all their glory.
These are the L.A. Colors Pro Eye Shader & Blender duo. They are natural fiber brushes that are supposed to give you a flawless makeup application and make blending a breeze.
These brushes are relatively soft and I haven't experienced any shedding yet, even after washing. I also found them to actually be quite good! The shader brush is pretty standard. I especially like the blending brush, it fits in my crease well. All in all, I think they are definitely worth the price. And if you can get your hands on them you won't be disappointed. Definitely a hidden gem in the drugstore.
While I was picking up my brushes I happened to see a couple of L.A. Colors 3 color eyeshadow palettes. I've never paid them any mind befor, but I saw them and curiosity got the best of me. So I picked up a couple.
These were only $1 a piece so my expectations weren't super high for these.
Okay, let's start with the Natural trio.
This is a matte trio that contains a cream, a soft neutral brown and a deeper warm brown. These are definitely colors I gravitate to on a everyday basis.
I was so surprised that these felt very creamy when swatching them. The pigmentation is pretty good and I didn't use a primer so you could see them as is. The middle shade practically blends in with my skin tone and works well to blend out other shadows. When going on the eyes I did have to build up the color with the cream shade but I don't really mind that. And the warm toned brown was the most pigmented and looks gorgeous in the crease.
Now for the Seduction trio.
When looking at all the choices available a Family Dollar this one caught my eye because of that gorgeous plum. This trio contains all satin finishes. There is a great taupe, a pinky white and a stunning plum.
This trio also felt very soft and creamy to the touch. I'm still shocked that these were only $1! The pigmentation is okay on this one. Again, I did not use a primer under these swatches so that you can see the true, out of the pan quality. The taupe is the winner to me out of this bunch. Although, I liked the pinky white shade as well. I was hoping that the plum would be a little deeper as it looked in the pan but it is still pretty. You will have to build up pigmentation on the eyes but you can't really complain for the price.
All in all I like both of these trios and I think these will receive a lot of love from me. I do recommend using a primer under these though. The eyeshadow brush duo is the star of this little haul though. They are seriously great for the price. I just love finding items in the drugstore that are hidden gems. What are your favorite under the radar products? I'm always curious to try any recommendations.
If you made it to the end of this review you deserve a cookie. I'm sorry it was so long. I'll try to work on that. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope you enjoyed reading about my little haul.
