Ipsy Glam Bag - February 2016

Hello!

Today I will be showing you the goodies I got in my February 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag. If you aren't sure what the heck I'm talking about then I will quickly let you know. It is a monthly beauty subscription service that costs $10 (plus shipping) a month. Every month Ipsy will send you 4-5 samples (sometimes full sized products) in a makeup bag. The products you will receive are based on the information they gather when you take the beauty quiz after you first sign up for the subscription. I have been subscribed since August 2014 and while I may not always love the products I receive I am definitely more happy than disappointed.

Okay. Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, let's get on to the good stuff.

This month's bag is so cute! For the most part I am unimpressed with the actual makeup bags but not this month! I will definitely be throwing this in my purse.

First up, I have the Dr. Brandt Pore Dermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator. I have tried this before and I am not impressed with this exfoliator. I have recently found one that I love (more info on that in a blog post coming very soon). The beads in this scrub are super tiny and don't feel like they are scrubbing your skin off, it has a nice fresh smell and I do think it does a decent job of exfoliating the skin. However, I saw no real results in my skin while using it.

Next we have the IT Cosmetice Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer in the shade neutral medium. I have heard so many good things about this concealer so I am super excited to try this. The color seems like a good match for my skin tone. We shall see.

Then we have the My Amazing Leave In Secret Multi Purpose Spray Conditioner. This product really intrigues me. This product is supposed to repair damaged and dry hair, protect and prolong color, enhance body, detangle, and reduce blow dry time all while being a heat protectant. Goodness, this sounds like a miracle worker. Plus it smells AMAZING!

Next up we have the Bellá Pierre Cosmetics mineral blush in Desert Rose. It is a very pretty rose color that I am excited to try out. I am not the biggest mineral blush fan but maybe I'll take to this one.

Lastly, we have the Luxie 231 Snall Tapered Blending brush. I received a couple of Luxie brushes from Generation Beauty LA a few weeks ago and I like their brushes a lot. This is your standard blending brush and it feels really soft. I'm excited to start using it. You can never have too many brushes and I'm happy that Ipsy sends brushes occasionally.

I am super happy with this month's bag and I can't wait to try out all these products. I'm sorry for the horrible picture quality. I promise I will do better next month.

If you are not subscribed to Ipsy Glam Bag and would like to try it out then just click here. It is definitely worth the $10 to be able to try out different products and the bag definitely pays for itself. If you are subscribed, what did you get in your bag this month? I'm always curious to know what others received.

Megan

Generation Beauty 2016 - Los Angeles

If you don't already know, Generation Beauty by ipsy is a 2-day beauty event that is held in Los Angeles and New York. I attended the Los Angeles event at L.A. Live. This is a registered event. There were 4,000 tickets sold this year, ranging in price from $50 - $150. You will receive a goodie bag for attending each day of the event, supposedly valued at over $200 and you will receive free products from each booth in exchange for your coupons, which are given during registration. If you are a creator (blogger, YouTube creator, etc.) or just a makeup fanatic this is the event for you.

I must mention that if you are not one of those people who enjoy waiting around in lines for 5-8 hours a day then this is not the event for you.

My advice to prepare for this event would be to wear comfortable shoes (your feet will thank you later), bring a power bank to charge your phone (mine died by 3PM on Day 1), plan which booths you would like to visit first, and take a snack (granola bars are fantastic). If you get hungry there are food trucks outside of the event.

This was my first year attending Generation Beauty and it definitely won't be my last. However, I recommend taking some girlfriends along with you. I braved it alone and met so many super nice girls that were there alone too but it would've been nice to have a friend with me to share the experience though.

On the first day of the event the first thing you do is get into a line so that you can be registered. Printing out your ticket will save time during registration. Once they look at your ticket and verify your identity you will be given a lanyard that you can write your name on, a map and your coupons.

Once you get inside the tent the party really begins.

I would say for the most part the lines were not that bad for brands like Ofra, Essence, Smashbox, City Color, Pacifica, Crown Brushes, Pür Cosmetics, etc. The longest I waited in line was about 5 -10 minutes.

The worst lines were definitely for brands like NYX, TooFaced, Benefit, Make Up Forever and Tarte. The wait time for those varied from 30 minutes to over an hour. That being said, I was sent away from the Make Up Forever line 10+ times as the line continually got too long and created a fire hazard. By the end of the event I had never made it into the line to get the free full sized HD foundation they were giving in exchange for your coupon because they had ran out of product.

A couple of the best moments of Generation Beauty was meeting Christen Dominique (christendominique.com) and Michelle (ReadySetGlamour.com). Both of these girls were so down to earth and just as sweet as they seem in their YouTube videos. They both took the time to have a short conversation and take a few pics.
I hate that Christen looks so blurry in this picture!!

Now onto the goodies.

This is all of the products I received from exchanging my tickets at some of the booths I visited.

And here is the contents of the goodie bags from Day 1 and 2.
I can't wait to start playing with all of this makeup and skin care! If you have any questions or would like to see an individual review of any of these products please let me know in the comments.

Overall, I think the whole experience was totally worth the price of the ticket. I met so many wonderful girls that love makeup just as much as I do and I met two of my favorite YouTubers all while shopping for and playing with makeup for 2 days. It was heaven! If you have the opportunity to go to Generation Beauty event I would say go for it! You won't be disappointed.
