Play! by Sephora - May 2016 Review

Hello!

Today I am super excited because I received my first Play! by Sephoa box in the mail. When I heard that Sephora was jumping on the subscription box bandwagon and offering their box for $10 I instantly signed up for the waiting list. I can't wait to share all the goodies that were inside this month's box so let's just jump right in to it.

The box comes with a pamphlet that gives some information on each product and your little bag of goodies. The theme for this month is The Forces of Nature. The pamphlet includes a Play! Pass. Just take your pass card into a Sephora and you will receive 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase.

First up we received the Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine. Before anyone gets upset about a perfume sample being included I will tell you that every month Sephora includes a perfume sample
on top of the 5 other samples in the box. This is just an extra, I repeat this is just an extra. I must admit, I was less than thrilled when I first saw this because I am not big on perfume samples that do not include a spray nozzle. However, after trying this I am obsessed! It is decribed as a burst of sweet blood orange and bitter orange peel with notes of geranium. On me the geranium really comes through and it is lovely and very soft.

Next we have the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick in the shade Kimchi. This bright pink shade is not for the faint of heart. You gotta have some guts to rock it and sadly I do not. It is gorgeous and I love that Bite Beauty lipsticks are made with food grade ingredients. I will probably pass this on to someone else but it is awesome that this was included.

Next is the Origins Maskimizer. This is a primer for your masks. I don't know if I really buy in to this but they also include a charcoal mask and an overnight hydrating mask to try with the primer.

The next item in the bag was the Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask. I love hair masks and I have tried the Briogeo curl cream and love it so I am super excited to try more from this brand. It contains Argan oil and avocado oil to deeply hydrate your hair. It smells really good too.

Next up is the Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial. This facial treatment has Wild rose oil, vitamin c and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and brighten the skin overnight. I'm very excited to try this and see if it really does make a difference in my skin.  It is suitable for all skin types.

Lastly, we have the Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram. This is a soft nude lip pencil that is great to have to pair with most lipsticks or glosses. I love the color and I love that this was included.

Overall, I think that the Play! by Sephora box was really good. I like the products included and the sample sizes were pretty generous. I have heard people complain that these are just 100 point perks and they might be. But remember you have to spend $100 just to get one of these items at Sephora. I think for $10 a month it is a great deal to try samples from so many brands that we see inside of Sephora's stores.

Do you receive the Play! by Sephora box? What are your thoughts? If you haven't joined yet you can
join the waitlist here.

Until next time.

Megan

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette Review

Hello again.

I never thought I would be the person who would want an eyeshadow palette so bad that I would stand outside of an Ulta on Mother's Day for almost 3 hours before the dang store even opened for a slight chance to purchase it. Not that I think that it is bad to do so, I just never saw myself doing so. Well, thanks to Too Faced I did exactly that. Was it worth it? Let's find out.

The almost-impossible-to-get-your-hands-on Sweet Peach Pallette retails for $49.

The packaging of the box is so stinking cute, which is the case with most Too Faced products.

I mean, come on!!! It is stunning.

There is a healthy mix of mattes, satins and shimmers that will work with nearly all skin tones. If you are already familiar with the Too Faced formulation of eyeshadows then you will know what to expect. These shadows are stiffer than some other brands but have amazing pigmentation and last on the eyes all day with a primer. The fact that these eyeshadows contain peach essence and they really do smell and taste (don't ask how I know) like peaches just makes this palette something special.

Let's get in to the swatches of the shadows.

These are all one pass of the eyeshadows with no primer underneath. Not bad, eh? The shade Georgia (bottom row, second shade from the left) pretty much blends in to my skin tone but all of the others are beautiful.

I have been wearing this palette almost every day that I wear makeup and I have loved every look I have come up with. The shadows are the same great quality that we have come to expect from Too Faced with the added bonus of the wonderful peach scent. I think that this is a fabulous neutral palette with some fun pops of color and a couple of deeper shades to create a smokier look. I do wish that the layout of the Chocolate Bar palettes had been continued in this one because I worry that I will run out of my highlight shades quickly.

If you were not able to pick this up when it first launched have no fear! The founder of Too Faced, Jerrod Blandino, announced on his Instagram that they are working to bring back the Sweet Peach palette in the future. I think it is great that Too Faced has listened to their customers' plea to bring this palette back in stock so that everyone who would like to buy it has an opportunity to. That is almost unheard of in the cosmetics industry and makes Too Faced stand out among the rest, in my opinion.

Overall, I think this palette was definitely worth the struggle of tracking down. I would do it all over again. I recommend this palette for lovers of neutral, peachy shades. It is a good every day palette that I know I have (and will) be reaching for quite often.

Were you able to get your hands on this palette? Do you love it or could you leave it? If you do not have it, will you be purchasing it when it comes back in stock? Let me know your thoughts.

Megan

Ipsy Glam Bag - May 2016

Hello, hello!!

I am back with my Ipsy Glam Bag Review for May 2016!! Woo!!

Last month I decided not to write a post about the bag I received. I received the bag super late and was pretty unhappy with the contents. I definitely do not want to be as negative as I was feeling on my blog so I made the executive decision to skip the post.

Anyways, this month I received my bag extra early and I am thrilled about the contents.

The theme for May 2016 is Destination Chic. The bag was very cute. I adore the print and love that it came in multiple shades. The envelope style bag is very different and I really like it.

First up we have the Trissola Chia Smoothing Oil. If there is one thing I have become completely obsessed with it is hair oils. Using a hair oil consistently has caused such a dramatic difference in the way my hair feel and looks. I am so pumped to try this one. It smells amazing!

Next up is the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment. I have never tried a Glam Glow mask so this is extra exciting for me. I have heard nothing but good things about this mask. If you have tried it before let me know your experience with it. Do you love it or hate it?

I also received the Hikari Shimmer Bronzer in Radiate. Upon swatching each shade individually I noticed that the pink and matte brown shades are quite dry feeling and are not smooth whatsoever. However the shimmery shades are very smooth. Very strange.

Next I received the Vera Mona Smudge Brush. I love getting makeup brushes in subscriptions. It's an easy way to build up your brush collection without spending a ton of money. This particular brush feels very soft and slightly dense. It looks promising.

Lastly, I received the Glamour Dolls Gloss Snob in Twirl. This gloss is very opaque and is surprisingly not sticky at all. It's a bubblegum pink gloss. Not much more to say.

This month's bag was a hit for me. Did you receive different products than me this month? If so, let me know what you got. If you haven't yet subscribed to Ipsy but are ready to take the plunge then check it out here. It's only $10 a month!

Until next time.

Megan
